Branding is at the heart of every successful company. More importantly, you should be branding yourself as you are preparing to enter the job market. If you give yourself a unique identity, you are more likely to stand out among the crowd. I worked to create a video promoting the event and a follow-up video for those who could not attend. Creating a personal brand for yourself is nearly, if not more important than a resume. You want to stand out in the crowd and this seminar explained to students just how they could accomplish this.

During my time as Advertising and Public Relations student assistant, I was given the task to create a video promoting the Ad+PR department. I had the greatest idea to create a filiming event featuring food, what student does not like free food? Unfortunately few students attended the event and the video is still in the works. I did, however create a spectacular poster for the event.

My time as the Advertising and Public Relations student assistant has given me the opportunity to help promote my program and also hone my skills. Presented with the challenge of designing a fully functioning online store intimidated me at first, but I was ready for the challenge. Another student worker and I worked on the store. I was responsible for the graphics on the items we were selling and the design of the storefront. In addition, I created promotional materials for the store, to get the word around.

Just a bit of experimentation with Flash. I originally had it on my front page, but it was a visual assault. Just a warning, it is still a visual assault. At the same time it is a representation of my skills.

The goal was to create a website for the Game Research Group (GRG) and Flaming Brain Studios. They wanted a main page, a members page, and a downloads page for GRG. The group wanted the Flaming Brains page to look similar to the GRG site. I created drafts for the pages in InDesign and unfortunately the project never moved beyond that stage because the group dropped the project.

I maintain this blog for the program. It is part of my position as Advertising and Public Relations student worker. I try to post at least one blog a week. The blog is about events occuring within the Advertising and Public Relations industry.

A class assignment to design a company and create a logo, magazine ad, brochure (which was a menu, in my case), newsletter, press release, letterhead, and business card for the company. I created SkyBlue, a restaurant/bar in the heart of downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky with a modern appeal. Download the PDF here.
